Black Friday en Español Es El Buen Fin
Mexico must have decided that Black Friday in Spanish (Viernes Negro) didn't sound good, so they invented their own version of a November shopping holiday called El Buen Fin (loosely translated as "The Good Weekend").
When does it take place? That's the problem. According to Wikipedia, it takes place, "on November in the weekend prior to the Monday in which the Mexican Revolution holiday is pushed from its original date of November the 20th…"
Ummmm, okay…I can't explain why Mexico made the date so complicated, but I can tell you that in 2015 El Buen Fin took place on 11/13-16.
El Buen Fin is no 11.11, but a couple of Mexican beauty salons did advertise some solid deals. I'll be keeping watch to see if this shopping holiday takes off. A lot of big companies, like Volaris and AeroMexico, are sticking with Black Friday deals – I'm guessing they've understood that they'd miss out on the American market by sticking to the El Buen Fin date.
